THIS HONOR ROLL OF DEATH

Mustered out of the ranks,
For these we give thanks;

Samantha, Chad, and Kenneth gone;
We grieve now, upon,

This honor roll of death,
Yet, we who are bereft

Will remember
The three from Mountain View High,

And how they came to die.

Russ that's one of the important reasons for we back home to read your blog. To keep those deaths from becoming numbers. You humanize the death of each soldier. Thank you for your service and my best wishes to you in continuing in the step in your life.

Ruth

Rusten, For those of us who read your posts you have made these men real and not a statistic. I know you will miss them terribly. I share your sorrow. I could not find the words to post earlier. I will continue to keep you in my prayers. Remember, God didn't take them from you. He only took their hand. Their spirit lives on.

Capt. Currie -

Thank you for sharing your masterly word-paintings of these valiant men and naming each portrait, so that who they were and what they did for us will remain emblazoned in our mortal hearts for as long as we remain behind.

When all the world is dust, yet God will not forget them nor their deeds.

Hold the line, Rusten, not just in the battleground of war, but also in the battlefield of your life yet to come!

God bless and keep you and yours, and all your noble brethren, living and fallen, and all their stalwart loved ones.

Sir, thank you for sharing your grief and for sharing a small part of what was the essence of these brave men. I will pray for their families and friends and for you and all their brothers and sisters in arms. God Bless you all.

Edward

Dear Rusten,
The loss of these four is bitter. They are the latest in the long line of heros who have bought our freedom with their blood. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, and memories of each. We will remember them and honor their memory. Hold the line, Rusten, for their memory and the shining cause for which they died. They, and you all, stand on the bridge to bar the path against an ugly enemy. They and you have freed 50 million people in the ME, giving those souls something heretofor unseen in those nations. And it snowballs. AQ knows that losing in Iraq and Afghanistan is a mortal wound. Your efforts will save millions of lives.

Sean

No these men are not statistics here in the United States. They will live on forever in our memory and in our prayers.
Thank-you for your incredible post. You made them alive in our minds and unforgettable.

Thank-You so much for what you do and know prayers and thoughts are ALWAYS with you.

Ken

Sir:

I appreciate reading your posts as you bare your soul and heart. Its been 36 years since I left a combat zone, my memories are memories of my fellow soldiers, the good and the bad. Time heals wounds, and the bad things seem to fade and yet when you lock eyes with someone who has shared something that most people never share it is a bond that transcends time and place and those that have faced their inner self and fear clearly know exactly what you have experienced. Hold the line and remember those band of brothers that have paid the ultimate sacrifice.

The sacrifices you make for us are great and consequently the losses you suffer are monumental. Please know that we are appreciative of all you do & we DO care.

Your quote from the Iwo Jima veteran's journal struck me as well & I want to be sure you know that even if you forget about God, there are those of us here at home who remind Him of you each and every day...several times a day.

Our fallen American soldiers, heroes all who stand for freedom. The soul of the indomitable American spirit who defend freedom's cause, no more noble a fight. Without our soldiers our beautiful world would be lost in totalitarian's rotting decay.

They are NOT statistics, they are each one symbols of courage, strength, and honor in a world lacking such character. Their lives represent hope that freedom's light will always shine. Their nearest and dearest have given all free people an irreplaceable gift of freedom I will forever in remembrance honor their names as the heros who give us hope in a time when it is needed most.

God Bless all our soldiers, you are all we have left standing against this wave of totaliarian decay we face. In return, I will lay my life down to defend you.

LT,
Thank you for speaking to us, for letting us know of life behind the lines even if you feel that you are just part of the Rear.

My prayers go out to their families and to the soldiers that must now deal with their loss as well.

I don't know why it posted twice...

There are NOT statistics. I do care, my family cares, even my family in Poland cares...
Thank you for sharing their lives with us. They were exceptional men.
I knew on Sat. that you had additional losses. I hardly slept since, waiting for releases. I cannot imagine your pain or pain their families are feeling. I feel like I "knew" CPT Ray Hill from his updates at AnySoldier. I know he has two daughters, I know their ages, and I know they have huge hearts like their Dad and collected shoes for Iraqi children.
I'm so sorry...

Rusten, thank you for baring your soul. I feel honored to have read this, and really at a loss for words. Except to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for what you are doing, and sharing. No one of you are just a number or a statistic to me. I think of you all every day, and your families, and how much of a strain and a sacrifice this all is, and I pray that you all have peace inside. God bless you. Thank you again.

Brett

Sir,

Excellent posts. Though the topic is of a terrible nature, thank you for telling us civilians a little about those men who have fallen for us. We are forever in your debt for your service and sacrafices. Take care. Wishing you and the others a safe return.
